Dr. Saghar (Sara) Shahidi-Birjandian
Founding Partner, Mediator, and Conflict Resolution Specialist
Dr. Saghar Shahidi-Birjandian is a founding partner, mediator, and conflict resolution specialist with over a decade of experience at the intersections of mediation, transitional justice, and human rights. Admitted to the Associate Roster of Mediate BC in 2025, she brings a trauma-informed and culturally grounded approach to dispute resolution, combining rigour with compassion.
Trained at the New York Peace Institute and further advanced through studies with Mediate BC, her facilitative mediation practice is both methodical and empathetic. Saghar’s work spans intercultural mediation, supporting governments, institutions, workplaces, and communities in building inclusive and respectful relationships. She facilitates mediated policy and strategy development, helping partners co-create collaborative governance frameworks that prevent disputes and promote shared ownership of solutions. Her practice also includes human rights and civil disputes such as workplace, contract, and insurance matters, as well as inter-group and identity-based conflicts.
Holding a Ph.D. in Politics and International Studies from SOAS, University of London, and an M.Sc. in Global Affairs from New York University, her work reflects a deep commitment to conflict mitigation and prevention, inclusive justice, ethical engagement, and systemic transformation. Whether resolving interpersonal conflicts or supporting large-scale systemic transformation, she approaches each engagement with the belief that dialogue, rooted in respect, empathy, and understanding serves as a catalyst for meaningful change.
