John Millikin
Founding Partner, Mediator, and Conflict Resolution Specialist
John Millikin is a Kelowna-based mediator with over two decades of professional and advocacy work relevant to dispute resolution in accessibility, inclusion, sports, and identity-based conflict. Trained through Mediate BC, he holds a Conflict Resolution Certificate from Mount Royal University and a Master’s Degree in Reconciliation Studies from Trinity College Dublin. John brings an empathetic, pragmatic, and ‘trauma-informed’ approach to resolving disputes.
His mediation practice spans international conflict, workplace, sports, and accessibility contexts. In workplace mediation, John delivers from his office experiences ranging from advertising agencies to think tanks, as well as over a decade of working with start-ups as an executive and unofficial mediator. In the sports world, John has embraced his experience as an amateur athlete who suffered a career ending hockey injury to deliver motivational and code-of-conduct speeches as well as help resolving athlete–team conflicts. In accessibility mediation, John draws on personal experience and professional expertise to address workplace accommodations, housing modifications, public space accessibility, and compliance with human rights and accessibility legislation.
John’s career has included reconciliation counseling in post-conflict Northern Ireland, mediation in high-stakes negotiations, governance roles, and entrepreneurial leadership. Across all areas, his work is driven by a commitment to creating comfortable, safe, respectful spaces where all voices are heard, conflicts are resolved, and relationships are preserved.
